MONTGOMERY, Ala.| The Jackson State soccer team continues rolling in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with a 3-0 record as the Tigers took down Alabama State, 3-2, Friday evening on the road.
JSU had three different goal scorers in the matchup as
Kendyl Terrell put the Tigers on the board first in the match at 6:47.
Maya-Joy Thompson gave Jackson State the 2-1 lead over ASU with a goal at 21:30 assisted by Terrell.
Kalia Uehara secured the Tigers' win with a goal at the 66:37 mark.
How It Happened
- Jackson State (4-7 ,3-0 SWAC) saw an early save by Jordan Hamilton as Alabama State shot three minutes and 20 seconds into the match.
- JSU had shots on goal from Maya-Joy Thompson and Amalia Fonua a minute apart at 4:18 and 5:19 which forced ASU's Lauryn Starwood to register saves.
- Kendyl Terrell put JSU on the board at the 6:47 mark as the Tigers took a 1-0 advantage.
- Alabama State (1-10, 0-4 SWAC) knotted the score up at one at 11:33 with a goal from Iliana Casiano assisted by Camila Jimenez.
- JSU took the 2-1 lead as Thompson punched one in assisted by Terrell.
- Hamilton registered another save from an ASU shot before the half ended.
- Alabama State tied the score again at two about halfway into the second period at 62:31 with a goal from Jimenez assisted by Katherine Nedved.
- The Tigers responded quickly as Kalia Uehara scored the Tigers' go ahead goal at 66:37.
- JSU was able to hold off Alabama State's offense to reel in the 3-2 victory.
