PINE BLUFF, Ark.| The Jackson State volleyball team completed a weekend sweep with a win against Grambling State to close out the SWAC West Cluster Monday mornng. The Tigers needed just three sets to defeat the Grambling State.
The conference win improved Jackson State's record to 9-7 overall and 5-1 in SWAC action.
The Tigers offense was paced by Alexis Williams, who finished with 14 kills on the day, and by Hope Briggs, who had 10 while hitting .529. got 14 digs from Nyjha Marcelin along with five blocks from Kyahana Robinson to lead them defensively.
Inside the Numbers
- Alexis Williams had a match-high three aces in the win and she had a match-high 14 kills for Jackson State.
- Jackson State got a match-high 14 digs from Nyjha Marcelin.
- JSU attackers were helped by a match-high 12 assists from Naija Gadis.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Tigers cruised to an early lead, methodically winning the first set 25-19. Jackson State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Lady Tigers took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Jackson State put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-22 victory in set number two. The Tigers grabbed control of the set lead early on at 2-1 and never looked back. Jackson State led by as many as seven points at 23-16 before closing out the set.
SET 3 | Jackson State finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after grabbing set three. The Tigers took the set 25-21 powered by a strong performance on the attacking side. Jackson State put together a .324 attack percentage with 18 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands five times, the Lady Tigers took control for good at 13-12 and rode that advantage to victory.

The Tigers will return to the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center Friday evening to take on Alabama A&M. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
