MONTGOMERY, Ala.| The Jackson State volleyball team could not out-play an opposing Hornets offense Sunday afternoon on the road falling to Alabama State in straight sets (23-25, 26-28, 19-25).
Hope Briggs finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Tigers offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .389. JSU got seven digs from Kymorah Carter along with five blocks from Kyahana Robinson to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
- Jackson State (14-12, 10-6 SWAC) rallied from a nine-point 23-14 deficit, but Alabama State hung on to win the first set 25-23.
- The Tigers dropped the second set 28-26 to fall behind in the match two sets to none.
- An impressive defensive showing wasn't enough as the Lady Tigers fell in set two while totaling eight blocks in the set loss.
- Alabama State (17-12,16-0 SWAC) finished the sweep with a third-set victory.
- The Tigers lost a tough set 25-19.
- Jackson State trailed by as many as seven points as Alabama State grabbed the advantage for good at 14-13 in a set that was tied up six times before the Hornets took over in the second half of the stanza.
