PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas| The Jackson State volleyball team took care of business in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-22) to knock off the Florida A&M Rattlers Sunday afternoon to claim the 2023 SWAC Tournament Championship
This title marks the program's fifth tournament championship.
Jackson State was led by a double-double from Alexis Williams, who registered 15 kills and 11 digs on the day. Hope Briggs also added 14 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Karys Dove chipped in with 10 digs to go with five blocks from Kyahana Robinson. Dove also registered 20 assists in the win.

- Naija Gadis had a team-high two aces in the win.
- Alexis Williams registered a double-double with 15 kills,11 digs and an ace.
- Jackson State attackers were helped by a team-high 20 assists from Karys Dove.

- Jackson State opened up an early one set to none lead, winning a close first set 25-23.
- JSU grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Tigers took over in the second half of the stanza.
- Jackson State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
- The Tigers won the second set 25-20 to swiftly jump to a 2-0 lead.
- JSU never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 after erasing a one-point deficit, the Rattlers largest lead of the set.
- This came in a set that featured eight ties and six lead changes.
- The Jackson State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
- JSU's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Florida A&M attacks in the stanza.
- The Tigers went on to seal the sweep with a victory in set number three.
- Jackson State grabbed control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and never trailed to win 25-22.
- JSU led by as many as six points at 11-5 before closing out the stanza, collecting 18 kills along the way.
Tigers head coach Rose Washingto was tabbed SWAC Coach of the Year while
Alexis Williams was named SWAC Tournament MVP. Williams along with
Karys Dove and
Hope Briggs were named to the All-Tournament Team.
