AUSTIN, Texas| Four Tigers scored in double figures as the Jackson State women's basketball team fell to Texas on the road Wednesday evening. Jackson State got an 18-point showing from the bench, but dropped the 97-52 decision to the Texas in its last non-conference game of the season.

The Tigers were led by Andriana Avent, who had 11 points. Ti'Ian Boler tacked on 10 points and Miya Crump helped out with another10 points and four steals.

Jackson State grabbed 40 rebounds in the matchup compared to Texas' 38, led by eight boards from Angel Jackson. The Tigers also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 24 rebounds into 11 second chance points.

JSU's defense was effective at taking away the basketball, forcing 14 Texas turnovers. Those takeaways turned into seven points on the offensive end of the floor. Crump's four steals led the way individually for the Tigers.

• Jackson State (5-6) struggled out of the gate, falling behind 23-8 at the end of the first quarter.
• The Tigers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 47-22 halftime deficit.
• JSU's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Tigers faced a 65-35 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter.
• Jackson State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled four of the team's 13 third-quarter points.
• Jackson State could not pull any closer in the fourth, falling by a final of 97-52.
• JSU got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring nine of its 17 total points.

• Jackson State shot 16-for-66 from the field (24.2 percent) and 81.8 percent (18-for-22) from the free throw line.
• Andriana Avent led the Tigers' offense with 11 points.
