TALLAHASSEE, Fla.| Marissa Medina went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI but Jackson State still came up short on Friday, and suffered defeat at the hands of the Florida A&M 5-3.
Junior Takiya Hill (2-5) got the ball to start for Jackson State and took the loss.
Medina led the way offensively for the Tigers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (10-12, 0-1 SWAC) was trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board.
- JSU got on the board thanks to Medina's RBI double with two outs.
- The Tigers kept the deficit at 2-1 before tying the score in the fourth.
- Jackson State scored a run when senior Samiyyah Huckabee drew a walk from senior Cris'Deona Beasley that scored sophomore Breanna Kimber, which brought the score level at 2-2.
- Florida A&M broke that tie and took a 5-2 lead moving into the sixth, when Jackson State narrowed the gap to 5-3.
- The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

- Jackson State's highest scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed one run across.
- JSU's pitchers faced 26 Florida A&M hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and five fly balls while striking out four.
