The Jackson State baseball team lost to Alabama A&M 12-9 Sunday in the series finale at Braddy Field.
Bret Mersman hit a two-run homer, while Jatavis Melton, Myles White, and Omar Gomez each had two hits for the Tigers (13-5 overall, 1-2 SWAC).
Trailing 7-2 in the fourth, Jackson State rallied. With one out, Jordon Smiley singled to left field and stole second base. White and Jaelen Williams then walked to load the bases. Marshal Luiz walked to score Smiley. Gomez' two-run single to left scored White and Williams to cut the deficit to 7-5. With two out, Melton singled through the right side to score Luiz to bring the margin to 7-6, but the Tigers would get no closer.
Alabama A&M (9-9, 2-1) scored three runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to take control.
Jackson State returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. hosting Alabama State at Braddy Field.
