The Jackson State baseball team lost to Alabama State 9-2 Friday in game one of the three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at Braddy Field.
The Tigers (13-6 overall, 1-3) scored both runs in the seventh inning with two outs. Cesar Saavedra reached on a two-out error and scored on a Daniel Bannon double down the right-field line. Jatavis Melton then singled through the right side, scoring Bannon as JSU cut the deficit to 4-2, but could get no closer.
Bannon went 4-for-5 to lead the Tigers' offensive attack. White and Marcus Atterberry each had two hits for Jackson State, which returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m.
