The Jackson State baseball returned to the win column with a 16-0 triumph over Tougaloo Wednesday night.
Cesar Saavedra and Myles White each went 3-for-4, with Saavedra scoring three times with three RBI, and White scoring twice with 2 RBI. Colby Guy went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI in the 13-hit attack for Jackson State (14-8).
A seven-run first set the tone for JSU, which took advantage of three Bulldog errors in the inning. White's two-run single was the big hit in the frame, as 11 Tigers batted in the inning.
In the second, Jordon Smiley reached base on an error and advanced to second. With two out, Guy doubled to center, scoring Smiley. Jordan Young then doubled to right center, scoring Smiley for a 9-0 lead.
Austin Campbell (2-0) got the win on the mound, going five innings allowing five hits and no runs with four strikeouts. Campbell, Daelan Caraway, Francis Thorne Jr., and Jonah Posey combined to scatter eight hits, walked none, and strike out 11.
Jackson State returns to Southwestern Athletic Conference play this weekend at Mississippi Valley State, with game times at 3 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday.
