JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State softball team opened its series with Alabama A&M with an 11-3 victory over the Bulldogs Friday evening at the JSU Softball Field. The Tigers registered seven runs in the bottom of the third inning on their way to a run-rule win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Alabama A&M (14-13, 5-5 SWAC) got on the board first in the top of the second as Taylor Woods hit a solo home run over the left field fence with two outs
 
	- Jackson State (16-17, 5-5 SWAC) answered immediately in the bottom of the inning as Monica Serrano singled to center field to score Samiyyah Huckabee and Jalia Hubbard to give JSU the 2-0 advantage 
 
	- Rachel Barker came up to the plate and singled to center for an RBI as Serrano scored before the end of the second inning
 
	- The Bulldogs came back in the third to tie the score at three as Faith Cross singled to center field for a two-run RBI
 
	- Tied at three in the bottom of the third, Jackson State warmed the bats up starting with a base hit in the infield from Jace Jackson 
 
	- Isabel Gusman followed up with another base hit to left field advancing Jackson to scoring position
 
	- Jalia Hubbard came up to bat and doubled to center field Jackson scored giving JSU a 4-3 advantage
 
	- With one out, Samiyyah Huckabee singled to short driving in Madison Perry
 
	- The Tigers loaded the bases with two away as Rachel Barker was hit by a pitch bringing Hubbard home
 
	- Brooklyn Morris singled to right field for a two-run RBI as JSU took a 10-3 lead
 
	- The Jackson State defense held Alabama A&M scoreless in the fourth inning while the offense scored one more time in the game 
 
	- JSU made it easy in the top of the fifth going three up and three down to put the Bulldogs away 11-3 in game one of the series
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
	- Macie Kuppenbender took the win in the circle for Jackson State, throwing three innings only walking one batter, allowing five hits, three runs and one error.
 
	- Sydney Hall took the loss for AAMU allowing 10 runs, seven hits, eight errors and three strikeouts
 
	- Jalia Hubbard and Samiyyah Huckabee each went 2-for-3 at the plate for JSU
 
	- Monica Serrano registered three RBIs
 
	- The Tigers only left three runners on base
 
UP NEXT
Jackson State will return to the JSU Softball Field to close out the series with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon and 2:00 p.m.
