LORMAN, Miss.
– Jordon Smiley went 3-for-5 and drove in seven runs as the Jackson State baseball team beat Alcorn 19-7 in seven innings Saturday.
Smiley hit a two-run double to right-center field in the first inning, a bases-clearing double down the left-field line in the fifth, and a two-run single in the sixth to lead Jackson State's 14-hit attack. The Tigers (10-2) won their eighth straight game, scoring at least one run in every inning.
Smiley's fifth-inning double was the big hit in the contest in a four-run inning that gave the Tigers separation from Alcorn.
Ty Hill was intentionally walked to load the bases before Smiley hit a 1-1 pitch just inside the third base line to give JSU a 12-5 lead.
Every starter got on base at least once for Jackson State.
Marcus Atterberry went 3-for-3 with four runs scored and an RBI.
Daniel Bannon went 2-for04, scored four times, and drove home three runs.
Jordan Young went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
