HAMMOND, La. – The Jackson State baseball team lost to Southeastern La. 14-4 Tuesday night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Jackson State scored first on an infield single by Justin Johnson with the bases loaded, scoring Ty Hill who singled with two outs.
Trailing 4-1 after five innings, the Tigers scored in the sixth. Marshal Luiz, who singled earlier in the inning, scored on a one-out single by Daniel Bannon. Following an infield single by Jatavis Melton to load the bases, a sacrifice fly by Hill cut the deficit to 4-3.
After Southeastern pushed the score to 7-3 after seven innings, Hill's sacrifice fly scored Bannon who walked with one out and moved to third on a Melton double. JSU would get no closer, as the Lions scored seven in the home half of the eighth for the final margin.
Bannon and Melton each had two hits, and Hill drove in two runs for the Tigers, who return to Southwestern Athletic Conference play Friday at Alabama A&M at 2 p.m.
