HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Jackson State baseball team lost its series opener at Alabama A&M 6-3 Friday.
Daniel Bannon, Myles White, and Marshal Luiz each had two hits for Jackson State, which got on the board in the fifth inning.
White led off the inning with a single, and moved to second on a groundout. With two outs, Luiz singled down the left field line, advancing White to third. White then scored on an error to cut the JSU deficit to 2-1.
Trailing 3-1, Jackson State rallied over the next two innings to tie the score. In the sixth, Jatavis Melton led off the inning with a third, and moved to third on a single by Ty Hill. Marcus Atterberry's bunt single scored Melton to cut the margin to 3-2.
In the seventh, Luiz led off with a single, and advanced to second base and then to third on consecutive passed balls. With one out, Luiz scored on a passed ball to tie the score at 3-3 but JSU did not score again,
Game two of the series is Saturday at 2 p.m.
