AUSTIN, Texas – Several Jackson State University track and field student-athletes posted career-best performances during the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the University of Texas this past weekend.
Erkyah Garrett set a personal best in the women's 100 hurdles with a time of 13.92.
Jiya Clayton set a personal best in the women's 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.48.
Clayton was the third leg of the women's 4x400 relay team with
Callie Calicut, Amara Hawkins-Quinone, and
Carrington Blair, which posted a personal best time of 3:49.32.
On the men's side, a trio of relay teams posted career-best times. The 4x200 relay team of
Sedgwrick Pitts Jr.,
Shawn Collins,
Jyquan Jackson, and
Caleb Jolivette posted a time of 1:24.98 to finish ninth ahead of Baylor and Tennessee.
The 4x400 relay quartet of Ivan Donaldson,
Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington,
Hanif Muhammad, and
Shawn Collins posted a time of 3:14.94.
The distance medley team of
Marquentin Barnes, Muhammad,
Caleb Crutcher, and
Jallah Galimah posted a time of 10:08.49.
On national performance lists,
Shawn Collins and Sherman Hawkins continue to rank among the nation's best. Collins is tied for second in the country in the 400 meters with a time of 45.60. Hawkins ranks 14th nationally in the high jump with a mark of 2.16 meters (seven feet, one inch).
The Jackson State track teams return to action Friday and Saturday at Ole Miss.
