Jackson State University Associate Athletic Director for Public Relations and Sports Media Duane Lewis was named Sports Information Director of the Year for the second straight year by Black College Nines.

Lewis was recognized for his coverage of Jackson State baseball by the website, which is dedicated to covering HBCU baseball nationwide. Lewis is now a three-time recipient of the national award, having earned the recognition in 2016 and 2022.

Lewis joined JSU Athletics in February 2022. Among his career highlights, he has worked for a Super Bowl-winning organization (St. Louis now Los Angeles Rams 1997-07), directed communications operations for the college football national championship game (Allstate Sugar Bowl 2007). Lewis has also led athletics communications departments at four Southwestern Athletic Conference institutions as well as the league office, and served as a university communications director.
