A total of 10 first-place finishes among 23 top-three performances led the way for the Jackson State University track teams in the Warhawk Invitational at Louisiana-Monroe.
Senior Shawn Collins won the 400 with a time of 46.99. Freshman Sherman Hawkins won the high jump with a mark of 2.13m (6' 11.75").
The 4x100-meter relay team of Ronald Huddleston, Collins, freshman Sedgwrick Pitts Jr., and Jyquan Jackson won the event with a season-best time of 40.14 seconds.
Senior Johnny Howell won the shot put with a mark of 15.46m (50' 8.75").
Pitts Jr. finished second in both the 100 (10.54) and the 200 (21.31), with personal best times in each race as Jackson State placed four runners in the top eight in each event. In the 100, juniors Caleb Joliette (personal best 10.86) and Donavan Hunt (10.87) finished fourth and fifth, with sophomore Elias Williams placing eighth (personal best 11.03).
In the 200, Williams finished fourth (personal best 21.99), freshman Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington fifth (22.13), and Hunt eighth (22.48). Ibraheem-Washington also finished third in the 400 with a time of 48.83.
Senior Jallah Galimah finished second in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:07.39.
Freshman Ivan Donaldson finished third in both the 110 hurdles (14.50) and 400 hurdles (54.80). Sophomore Tyler Tremble placed sixth in the 110 hurdles (14.88) and fifth in the 400 hurdles (season-best 55.45). Donaldson and Tremble were among four JSU athletes in the top eight in the 400 hurdles, along with sophomore Tayari Sherwood (4th at 55.35) and junior Quandaveus Gilliam (7th at 57.36).
Hawkins was among three JSU men in the top eight in the long jump. Hawkins finished fourth at 6.92m (22' 8.5"), ahead of freshmen Jai Banks-Chambers (sixth at 6.71m / 22' 0.25") and Ronald Huddleston (eighth at 6.57m / 21' 6.7").
Freshman Jalen Walker placed second in the hammer throw (47.90m / 157' 2") and fourth in the discus (42.57m / 139' 8"). Senior Johnny Howell finished third in the hammer (47.71m / 156' 6").
In women's action, Sophomore Courtney Tatum and Eryn Garrett went 1-3 in the 100-meter dash, with Tatum posting a winning time of 12.27 seconds, ahead of Garrett's 12.32.
Sophomore Erkyah Garrett and freshman Callie Callicut went 1-3 in the 100 hurdles, with each posting season-best times. Garrett won with a time of 13.72, ahead of Calicut's 14.70.
Jackson State posted three top-four finishes in the 400 hurdles. Sophomores Jiya Clayton (1:03.90) and Erkyah Garrett (personal best 1:04.61) went 1-2, with freshman Shalis Tresvant finishing fourth (1:13.72)
The 4x100 meter relay team of Eryn Garrett, Blair, Tatum, and Erkyah Garrett won the event with a season-best time of 46.74.
In field events, junior Kymoi Noray won the javelin with a mark of 39.03m (128' 1").
The Lady Tigers posted four top-six finishes in the 200. Junior Carrington Blair won the event with a personal-best time of 24.58. Tatum finished third with a personal best time of 25.07, with freshman Artajia Richardson fourth at 25.32, and Garrett sixth at 46.74.
Freshman Amara Hawkins-Quinones finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:19.46.
Noray was one of three JSU athletes to place in the top six in the hammer, with junior Alexis Morris placing second (50.89m / 166'11") and sophomore Lillian Dudley fourth (47.57m / 156' 1"). Morris also finished fourth in the discus with a mark of 42.08m (138' 1").
Freshman Mya Grimes finished fourth in the triple jump with a personal best of 11.37m (37' 3.75"), ahead of junior Ciara Corley, who finished seventh at 10.78m (35' 4.5"). Corley also finished seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m (4' 11").
Sophomores Jordyn Tiggs (5.45m / 17' 10.75") and Candace Mongo (5.31m / 17'5.25") finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the long jump.
