BATON ROUGE, La. | Jackson State track and field turns its attention to the outdoor postseason, as they head to Baton Rouge for the SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at A.W. Mumford Stadium, hosted by Southern. Competition begins on Sunday, May 10, and concludes on Tuesday, May 12.
The multis will kick off competition for the Tigers on Sunday, with
Lenasia Drummond competing in the heptathlon and
Conner Cooper in the decathlon.
The throws are set to compete first for the field events, with the day beginning with the women's hammer, followed by the men's.
Malayna Mallory is making her outdoor conference debut, entering the field seeded second in the second flight.
The first individual track event to be contested is the 200m prelims. The squad is led by
Sedgwrick Pitts Jr., the bronze medal winner in the event at the indoor championships earlier this year.
The 10k will close the first day of competition, with
Lorine Jelagat and
Collins Kibet entering the field as the top-seeded Tigers.
