MOBILE, Ala.| After jumping out to a 1-0 lead, the Jackson State volleyball team couldn't hang on and fell 3-1 (28-26, 10-25, 19-25, 9-25) to South Alabama Saturday afternoon to close out the Jaguar Invitational.

How It Happened

• Jackson State (0-3) swapped leads three times with South Alabama in the first set, but the Tigers took control for good at 27-26 and rode that advantage to a set one victory.
• The Tigers grabbed the first set 28-26 powered by a strong performance on the attacking side.
• Jackson State put together a .386 attack percentage with 22 kills in the set victory.
• In the second set, the Tigers dropped the first point and never clawed back into the lead
• Jackson State dropped the second set 25-10 to even the match 1-1.
• A 25-19 third-set loss put Jackson State behind 2-1.
• Jackson State trailed by as many as six points as South Alabama grabbed the advantage for good at 14-13 in a set that was tied up nine times before the Jaguars took over in the second half of the stanza.
• Jackson State lost set four and the match, falling 25-9.

Inside the Numbers

• The Tigers were led by a double-double from Alexis Williams, who registered 11 kills and 10 digs on the day.
• Williams also tacked on an ace in the match.
• Nyjha Marcelin also added 11 kills to help the attack.
• On the defensive end, Trinity Bryant chipped in with 12 digs to go with three blocks from Kyahana Robinson.
•  Jackson State's attackers were helped by a team-high 35 assists from Naija Gadis.

Up Next
The Tigers will head to Conway, Arkansas to compete in the Central Arkansas Invitational against Central Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock and Southeastern Louisiana beginning Friday morning. First serve Friday is set for 10 a.m.
