NASHVILLE, Tenn.| The Jackson State volleyball team fell in its final game of the TSU/Belmont Tournament to Belmont. The Tigers fell 3-0 in the matchup.
How it Happened
Jackson State (4-6) fell behind early in the set as Belmont opened with an ace and four kills for a 5-0 lead.
Belmont (5-7) continued to build on its lead for a 20-9 advantage. JSU couldn't bounce back from the deficit as the Tigers fell in the first set 25-16.
Jackson State got on the board first in the second set. After tying the score four times early in the set, Belmont took a slight 10-6 lead over JSU. The Tigers started closing in on the gap with an ace from
Trinity Bryant to bring the score to 12-10. JSU brought the score within one point, 21-20., with a kill from
Hope Briggs.
Morghan Chambers tied the score at 21 for Jackson State with another kill. A Bruins attack error put the Tigers back within one point at 24-23 nearing the end of the second set, but Belmont was able to pull away for the set point and 25-23 win.
In the third set, the Bruins got off to another great start leaving the Tigers behind 10-2. Jackson State battled to put themselves back in the game as
Karys Dove recorded an ace to bring the score to 13-10. Belmont began to pull away again, taking a 20-13 lead over JSU. The Bruins went on to take the set and secure the 3-0 win with a 25-18 third set.
Inside the Numbers
- Hope Briggs led the Tigers offense with 10 kills and adding five digs.
- Karys Dove registered 20 assists in the match.
- Trinity Bryant recorded 11 digs, two aces and one assist.

The Tigers will open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center Friday evening. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
