JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State soccer team notched a 2-1 win over Alcorn State Friday afternoon at home in its Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opener at the JSU Soccer Field.
How it Happened
Jackson State (1-7, 1-0 SWAC) made its way down the field early in the match as Kalia Uehara shot for the Tigers at 9:47. JSU took the 1-0 lead when Kiana Tulloch scored her first goal of the season at 30:23, assisted by Karime Antonio Lopez.
Alcorn State (2-6, 0-1 SWAC) responded four minutes later to tie the game on a goal from Samara Nunn at 34:30 in the first half. Tulloch attempted to give JSU the lead with a shot right before the half at 43:22, but Alcorn State's Paula Argelaguet registered the save as the tie carried into halftime.
Both teams exchanged shots to open the second half before Jackson State busted up the 1-1 draw on Kyla Gomez's goal at 53:07, her first of the season. JSU shot three more times in the second half, but the 2-1 score held to end the game.

- Jordan Smith's defender held her down as she was not forced to recorded any saves despite one goal.
