JACKSON, Miss.| After a scoreless first half of action, the Jackson State soccer team was able to gain the advantage with a goal from Jaelyn Greer, assisted by Kalia Uehara, to give JSU the 1-0 lead. The Tigers were able to reel in the win at home on JSU Soccer Field Sunday afternoon.
How it Happened
Jackson State (3-7, 2-0 SWAC) saw back-to-back shots from Kiana Tulloch to open the match at the 3:47 mark and again at 4:45 into the first half. Sage MaGruder had the first shot on goal for the Tigers at 6:28 that forced Sydney Whitten to record the save. Maya Thompson took her chance on the goal 13 minutes and 44 seconds in the match, but Whitten came down with the save. Kyla Gomez took two shots back-to-back roughly seven minutes apart, but had no luck as Whitten picked up the save.
Kendyl Terrell shot first in the second half for the Tigers at 56:13 as Whitten registered another save. The Tigers got on the board at the 65:07 mark with a goal from Jaelyn Greer and the plug-in from Kalia Uehara. Jackson State was able to hold on to its lead for the win over Mississippi Valley State.
