TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Chase Adams scored a career-high 35 points, but the Jackson State men's basketball team lost to the Florida A&M Rattlers 88-86 on Monday on the road at the Al Lawson Center.
Adams' 35-point effort led the Tigers (8-12, 4-3 SWAC). Ken Evans helped out with 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals, and Zeke Cook chipped in with 12 points.
Evans pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the Jackson State offense, which grabbed 11 boards and turned them into 12 second-chance points.
The Jackson State defense effectively took away the basketball in Monday's game, forcing 14 Florida A&M (4-14, 2-5 SWAC) turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 20 points on the offensive end of the floor. Evans' two steals led the way individually for the Tigers.
How It Happened
The Tigers and Rattlers went back and forth to start the first half of play. Florida A&M would go on a 14-6 run over 4:56 to take a 37-27 lead heading into halftime.
Jackson State came out of halftime, clicking on all cylinders, going on a 10-0 run, finished off by Adams' three, to even the score at 37, all with 17:45 to go in the contest. The Tigers could not turn their rally into a victory, as the Rattlers outscored them 51-49 the rest of the way to hand Jackson State the 88-86 loss. Jackson State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting nine shots from deep to score 27 of its 59 points.
