JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State volleyball team racked up 10 blocks on the way to a three-set victory (25-15, 25-20, 25-15) against UAPB Monday eveningat home. The win boosted JSU's record to 10-9 overall and 6-2 in SWAC play.
Jayden James finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Tigers' offense. Defensively, JSU had two players reach double figures in digs as Trinity Bryant had 11 and Karys Dove had 10. From the front row, Jordan Jones contributed six blocks.
How It Happened
- Jackson State won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-15.
- The Tigers led by as many as 12 points at 18-6 before closing out the set.
- JSU got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked six UAPB attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 10 UAPB attacking errors on the way to victory.
- After their win in the first set, Jackson State put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-20 victory in set number two.
- The Tigers never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that showcased two lead changes before taking over the lead.
- JSU then finished off the match with a victory in set number three.
- The Tigers took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to secure a 25-15 victory.
- Jackson State opened up as much as a 12 point lead at 24-12 before finishing off the set, collecting 16 kills along the way.
