SPARTANBURG, S.C.| Zoe Cooper grabbed 10 rebounds, but the Jackson State women's basketball team fell to the Morehead State Eagles 87-57 Saturday to close out the Spartan Shootout.

Cooper added seven points and two steals to her 10-rebound game for the Tigers. Taleah Dilworth helped out with 16 points and Jaileyah Cotton chipped in with nine points.

The Jackson State defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Saturday's game, forcing 13 Morehead State turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 11 points on the other end of the floor. Cooper's two steals led the way individually for the Tigers.

How It Happened

• Jackson State (1-6) struggled out of the gate, falling behind 28-17 at the end of the first quarter.
• The Tigers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 45-30 halftime deficit.
• JSU's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Tigers faced a 72-47 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter.
• The Tigers played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 17 points in the paint.
• Jackson State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 87-57.

• Jackson State shot 36.4 percent (20-for-55) from the field and 63.3 percent (14-for-22) from the free throw line.
• The Tigers finished with 32 points in the paint, 12 bench points, 11 points off of 13 Morehead State turnovers, five fast break points and two second chance points.
• Taleah Dilworth led the Tigers with 16 points.
• The Tigers tallied six blocks as a team.
• Jackson State got a team-high 10 rebounds from Zoe Cooper.
