James and Williams Each Secure Double-doubles in Tigers 3-0 Win Against MVSU

JACKSON, Miss.| Jayden James and Alexis Williams each registered double-doubles to help lead the Jackson State volleyball team to a 3-0 win (25-12, 25-8, 29-27) against the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes Wednesday at home at Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.

The victory boosted the Tigers' record to 14-9 overall and 10-2 in SWAC action.

JSU was led by the double-doubles from James, who had 10 kills and 11 digs, and Williams, who had 18 kills and 10 digs. Hope Briggs added nine kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Trinity Bryant chipped in with nine digs to go with two blocks from Jordan Jones.

  • Jayden James and Alexis Williams each registered double-doubles in the win.
  • Hope Briggs was efficient in attacking situations in the match, accumulating nine kills while hitting .900.

  • JSU also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
  • The Tigers took set two 25-8 to swiftly jump to a 2-0 lead.
  • JSU led from the opening point on in the set to earn the victory.
  • Jackson State opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 17 points, to finish off the set, totaling 15 kills with a .7 attack percentage while only notching one attack error along the way.
  • The Tigers hit .700 over the course of the set.
  • The Jackson State offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
  • The Tigers then sealed the sweep with a victory in set number three.
  • JSU took the set 29-27 propelled by a solid showing on the attacking end.
  • Jackson State put together a .340 attack percentage with 25 kills in the set win.
  • After the lead changed hands one time, the Tigers took control for good at 28-27 and rode that advantage to victory.
