PINE BLUFF, Ark.| Andriana Avent notched 20 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff as the Jackson State women's basketball team cruised to a 72-56 win over the Golden Lions on the road Monday evening.
Ti'lan Boler added 18 points off of the bench and Angel Jackson added five points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Jackson pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Jackson State, grabbing 16 boards and turning them into 13 second chance points.
Jackson State forced 16 UAPB turnovers while committing 11 themselves in Monday's game. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 20 points on the other end of the floor. Avent's three steals led the way for Jackson State.
How It Happened
- Jackson State (16-6, 11-0 SWAC) fell behind 7-0 to open the game, but went on an 11-0 run with 6:52 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Keshuna Luckett, to take an 11-7 lead.
- The Tigers then added three points to that lead by the end of the period and entered the quarter break with a 19-12 advantage.
- Jackson State did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 10 of its 19 points close to the basket.
- JSU kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 56 seconds mark in the second period, highlighted by a three from Areyanna Hunter, to increase its lead to 37-26, a score that would hold until halftime.
- Jackson State was strong from deep in the period, knocking down four three-point shots to account for 12 of its 18 points.
- The Tigers continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Ti'Ian Boler, to expand its lead further to 52-34 with 2:21 to go in the third.
- Before the conclusion of the third period, the Golden Lions had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Tigers still entered the fourth quarter with a 53-37 edge.
- Jackson State took advantage of four UAPB turnovers in the quarter, scoring seven points off of takeaways.
- JSU held onto its lead before going on a 6-0 run to grow the lead to 63-47 with 6:09 to go in the contest.
- The Tigers kept up with the lead for the rest of the game for the 72-56 win. J
- Jackson State got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring nine of its 19 total points.

- Jackson State shot 72.4 percent (21-for-29) from the free throw line and 35 percent (21-for-60) from the field.
- The Tigers finished with 32 bench points, 22 points in the paint, 20 points off of 16 UAPB turnovers, 13 second chance points and 13 fast break points.
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff shot 19-for-60 (31.7 percent) from the field and 15-for-24 (62.5 percent) from the free throw line.
- Coriah Beck led the Golden Lions with 14 points, followed by Maya Peat who had 11 points and Jelissa Reese who finished with 10 pints.
- UAPB finished with 26 points in the paint, 15 bench points, 12 second chance points, 10 fast break points and seven points off of 11 JSU turnovers.
