JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State women's basketball team fought back from a 33-32 deficit after the third quarter to take down the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 52-39, because of an imposing defensive performance at home Monday.
The Tigers (18-6, 13-0) had four players score in double figures, led by Andriana Avent, who had 12 points. Ti'lan Boler added 12 points and Miya Crump chipped in as well with a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Jackson State collected 44 rebounds in Monday's game compared to Bethune-Cookman's 34, led by Crump's 11 boards. The Tigers also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 19 rebounds into eight second chance points.
Jackson State forced 19 Bethune-Cookman turnovers while committing 18 themselves in Monday's game. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 18 points on the other end of the floor. Crump's three steals led the way for Jackson State.

- Jackson State (18-6, 13-0 SWAC) entered the second quarter tied at 7-7 after a tightly contested first period.
- JSU did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring four of its seven points close to the basket.
- The Tigers started off the second quarter by going on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Crump, to take a 14-7 lead.
- Bethune-Cookman cut into that lead, but the Tigers still enjoyed a 21-15 advantage heading into halftime.
- JSU dominated in the paint, scoring eight of its 14 points close to the basket.
- Jackson State then lost its advantage in the third quarter and trailed the Wildcats 33-32 entering the fourth.
- The Tigers played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 11 points in the paint.
- JSU came out of the third quarter break clicking on all cylinders, going on an 11-0 run, finished off by Angel Jackson's layup, to seize a 43-33 lead with 6:48 to go in the contest.
