Eichelberger Recorded 4 RBIs in loss to Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Joseph Eichelberger collected four RBIs, but the Jackson State Tigers fell on the road to the Mississippi State Bulldogs 19-6 on Tuesday at Dudy Noble Field.

Je-Andrick Lourens (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Jackson State (6-3).

Eichelberger went 2-for-3 with a home run in addition to his four RBIs for the Tigers. Rodney Hibler put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Jordan McCladdie also contributed for Jackson State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Tigers got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Jackson State plated two runs when Eichelberger left the yard with Hibler aboard.

The Tigers then held the Bulldogs scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Jackson State scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Eichelberger, which brought the Tigers lead to 5-0.

Jackson State's lead had disappeared once the fifth inning came around and turned into a 13-5 Mississippi State (5-4) advantage, when the Tigers cut that deficit to 13-6. The Tigers picked up a run on Hibler's leadoff home run off sophomore Bradley Loftin. The Tigers could not get any closer, as Mississippi State added six runs to their tally on the way to a 19-6 final.
