Montesano went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in addition to his four RBIs for the Tigers. Junior Jordan McCladdie compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs. Senior Hasan Standifer also contributed for Jackson State, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Tigers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom of the first inning with the game still scoreless. Jackson State's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a two-run double off the bat of McCladdie and a two-run double from Montesano.

The Tigers then held the Golden Lions scoreless before getting back on the board the next inning. Jackson State scored twice on Montesano's two-run homer, which brought the Tigers lead to 9-0.

UAPB narrowed Jackson State's lead to 9-2 before the Tigers stretched the advantage to 10-2 in the third inning.

The Golden Lions gained ground, closing the gap to 10-3 until Jackson State added some insurance in the fourth. Freshman Robert Tate Jr. and junior Sebastian Cabeza scored a run for the Tigers in the inning, bringing the score to 12-3 in favor of Jackson State.

The Tigers held UAPB without a run before expanding their lead to 13-3 in the eighth inning. Junior Myles White came across to score the lone run of the inning for Jackson State. The score remained 13-3 for the rest of the game as the Tigers coasted to the win.
