NEW ORLEANS, La. | Jackson State fell in a midweek non-conference contest to New Orleans 16-5 at Maestri Field on Wednesday night.
Jordan McCladdie and
Sebastian Cabeza each picked up a pair of hits in the eight-hit attack for Jackson State (16-5), while
Joseph Eichelberger scored a pair of runs.
Lenny Montesano and Cabeza each drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.
Je-andrick Lourens (1-2) suffered the loss working 0.2 innings in the start. He allowed seven runs, all earned, on four hits before giving way to five relievers including
Garrett VanDeventer and
Miles Thomas who pitched scoreless innings.
How It Happened
- (T1) Montesano drove in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout to score McCladdie, Jackson State 1-0.
- (B1) Mitchell Sanford drove home the first run of the game for New Orleans with a single through the right side before Dylan Mach drove in a pair to give the Privateers the lead. Diego Villescas doubled in two more to left center before back-to-back singles drove in three more in the inning, New Orleans 8-1.
- (B3) Sanford singled to left to drive in the second run of the game before Miguel Useche singled to right for another run. The Privateers added three more on a single by Bryce Calloway and a double by Brady Prewitt, New Orleans 13-1.
- (T4) Jackson State got back on the board with a solo home run by Eichelberger to left followed by a two-run double by Cabeza, New Orleans 13-4.
- (B4) Useche cleared the bases with a double to left, New Orleans 16-4.
- (T5) Montesano doubled to right center for the final run of the game, New Orleans 16-5.
