ITTA BENA, Miss. | Gabrielle Willis drove in five runs leading Jackson State to a 6-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over Mississippi Valley State on Friday.
Willis finished the day 2-for-3 with a double and five RBI to lead the seven-hit attack for Jackson State (18-9, 6-3 SWAC).
Mari Stephens finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while
Victoria Salazar (10-4) picked up the win with a complete-game effort allowing two runs on five hits with nine strikeouts.
How It Happened
- (T2) Gabrielle Willis drove in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout, Jackson State 1-0.
- (T3) Julie Lopez drove in Ka'Liyah Gipson with a sacrifice fly to right, Jackson State 2-0.
- (T4) Willis drove in two more runs with a single to center, Jackson State 4-0.
- (B5) Kaitlyn Harper singled to center to drive in the first run for the Delta Devils, Jackson State 4-1.
- (T6) Willis drove in her fourth and fifth RBIs with a single to right, Jackson State 6-1.
- (B7) Breeauna Troup stole second allowing Jade Smith to steal home, Jackson State 6-2.
