TUSCALOOSA, Ala. | Jackson State placed several student-athletes in the top 20 at the Crimson Tide Invitational with several top-10 finishes by field athletes this weekend.
On the women's side, the Tigers placed several student-athletes in the top 15 of their events including
Gabrielle Holliday who finished fifth in the discus at 46.96 meters just behind Amani Heaven of Alabama, and finished 14th in the hammer at 42.04 meters. She was joined in the top five of an event by
Kymoi Noray with a fifth-place finish in the hammer at 46.73 meters just behind Biniosa Ezukuse of Troy, and she was the fourth-best collegiate athlete in the event.
Noray also finished 13th in the javelin at 42.10 meters just behind Arianna White of Southern Miss).
Lilliann Dudley placed in the top 10 in a pair of events including sixth in the shot put 14.27 meters. She also finished eighth in the hammer throw at 45.06 meters. Meanwhile,
Alexis Morris finished 11th in the hammer throw at 43.53 meters and 14th in the discus at 43.53 meters.
Nedgine Morancy finished 18th in the long jump at 5.29 meters just behind Jelese Alexander of Southern Miss.
Not to be outdone, the men had a pair of student-athletes finish in the top 20 in their respective events this weekend including
Tevin Thompson who finished seventh in the long jump at 7.10 meters just behind Ashton Mitchell of Kennesaw State.
Davieon Center finished in the top 20 in three different events including an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw at 45.80 meters just behind Marshall Gainer of Samford. He also finished 14th in the shot put at 15.48 meters just behind Carl Henry of Samford and 19th in the discus at 44.97 meters just behind Oliver Jack of Louisiana.
Several track athletes also finished in the top 20 including a pair by
Kaylin Jackson. She finished 14th in the 400 meters at 56.74 just behind Yasmine Martin of Kennesaw State, and 16th in the 800 meters at 2:15.59 just behind a trio of runners from Louisiana.
Jiya Clayton finished 10th in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:02.08 just behind Rachel Hunter of South Alabama and Ayden Drake of Samford.
A pair of athletes finished in the top 20 in the 100-meter hurdles for the women led by
Callie Calicut in 18th at 14.61 seconds just behind Tajah Martin-Palmer of Troy, followed by
Erkyah Garrett in 19th at 14.66 seconds.
On the men's side,
Jace Coleman finished third in the 200 meters at 20.84 seconds just Garry Munro of Louisiana at 20.77 and Samuel Ogazi of Alabama at 20.71, and also finished 12th in the 100 meters at 10.60 seconds just behind Garry Munro of Louisiana for top 10 10.57.
Dominic Turner finished 18th in the 800-meters at 1:55.28 just behind Brandon Beavers of Louisiana, and
Jeremiah Hudson ninth in the 3000-meter Steeplechase at 10:11.27 just behind Connor Jackson of North Alabama for the Tigers.

The Tigers return to action April 18-20 in Atlanta (Ga.) for the Georgia Tech Invitational, the final meet in preparation for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championships in early May.
