CLINTON, Miss. | The Jackson State men's and women's track and field teams recorded a season-high 10 first-place finishes, highlighting 30 total top-five finishes, at the MC Twilight Invitational on Friday, April 25.
Ivan Donaldson Jr. earned his first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.94, while Erkyah Garrett recorded hers in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.17. Xhamani Thompson and Fabian Campbell claimed victory in the 800-meter races at 2:24.22 and 1:50.56 respectively. Tyjah Edwards earned first place in the 200-meter dash with a 21.37.
In the field events, Javon Gray took first place in long jump with a leap of 6.84 meters and Jordin Smith won the high jump with a jump of 1.95 meters. Freshman Madyson McGill won pole vault, recording a height of 2.80 meters. Senior Lilliann Dudley won both the shot put and hammer throw events as the only Tiger to win multiple events on the day.
Jiya Clayton (400-meter hurdles), Tayari Sherwood (400-meter hurdles), Zamarie Kier (110-meter hurdles), Dalon Harris (shot put), Gabrielle Holliday (discus), and Robert Salhab (hammer throw) all claimed second place in their respective events as well.
