LAFAYETTE, La. | Kaiden Berry, Terrell Dixon, Sedgwrick Pitts Jr., and Ashanti Patton highlighted the Jackson State Tigers track and field teams' performances at the Louisiana Classic on Saturday.
Berry placed second in men's discus after throwing a distance of 52.26m, which was also a new personal best. He also placed fifth in shot put with a 16.37 mark.
Dixon also finished in second in the long jump at a distance of 7.21m, which is a new season best for the senior from Brandon, Miss.
Pitts Jr. continued his stellar season with another top-three finish in the 200m dash. The Texas native recorded a time of 20.87 in the event. He also competed in the 100m dash, clocking in at a 10.37 time to place sixth in the field.
Patton was the lone representative from the women's team after placing third in the women's triple jump. She leaped for a distance of 11.68m to solidify her position.
Several Tigers also recorded personal bests and season bests including: Madyson McGill (pole vault), Korbin Lewis (pole vault), Malayna Mallory (hammer throw and discus throw), Elijah Blige (discus throw), Collins Kibet (5k), Duncan Koima (5k), Eric Lagat (5k), Kaylin Jackson (800m race), Dominic Turner (800m race), Kayla Williams (400m hurdles), Jaime Jenderson (400m hurdles), and Rickey Green III (110m hurdles).
