BATON ROUGE, La. | The 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships get underway Thursday morning at A.W. Mumford Stadium on the campus of Southern and will run through Sunday when a champion is crowned.

Jackson State will send several student-athletes into competition among the best in the conference in their respective events.

On the men's side,
Jace Coleman enters the week with the fifth-fastest time in the 100 meters (10.39), just 0.02 seconds off the pace of third, while three other teammates are ranked in the top 16. He also enters the championships with the fifth-fastest time in the 200 meters (20.84), and teammate
Jyquan Jackson sixth (20.99).

Victor Kibet and
Andrew Kiplagat look to challenge for the medal stand in the 5000 meters with Kibet fifth (15:45.50) and Kiplagat not far behind at 15:56.02. In the hurdles competition
, Ivan Donaldson Jr. enters the week with the sixth-fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles (14.27) and third in the 400-meter hurdles (52.65).

Jeremiah Hudson enters third in the 3000-meter Steeplechase (10:11.27), while a pair of relay teams – the 4x100 (third/40.30) and 4x400 – will challenge for the medal stand.

In the field events,
Ledamian Rowell enters as the best triple jumper in the conference at 15.72 meters (51-07) and is followed by teammate
Javon Gray with the fourth-best jump at 15.23 meters (49-11.75). Rowell also enters fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.-5 meters (6-08.75) and eighth in the long jump at 7.35 meters (24-01.50), while
Vincent Wilson enters fifth in the pole vault at 4.10 meters (13-05-25). Wilson will kick off the meet in the Decathlon where he has the best point total of the season entering the meet.

Meanwhile,
Davieon Center enters as the best in the shot put at 16.45 meters (53-11.75), second in the hammer at 50.73. meters (166-5), and third in the discus at 46.94 meters (154-0). James Jackson enters with the sixth-best throw in the discus at 42.71 meters (140-1).

On the women's side,
Kaylin Jackson looks to get on the medal stand in the 800 meters entering the weekend with the eighth-best time in the conference at 2:14.44 while a pair of student-athletes will challenge in the 400-meter hurdles
. Jiya Clayton has the third-best time in the event (1:00.18) while
Callie Calicut is eighth (1:02.71) – both times were recorded in the last regular season meet.

In the field events,
Jacquel Williams enters with the eighth-best clearance in the high jump at 1.60 meters (5-3) while
Mylani Galbreath enters with the best distance in the long jump this season in the conference at 6.45 meters (21-2). Meanwhile,
Nedgine Morancy enters with the ninth-best jump this season in the triple jump at 11.80 meters (38-8.75).

Lilliann Dudley enters the meet with the best throw in the shot put with a throw of 14.49 meters (47-06.50), while
Gabrielle Holliday has the best throw in the discus at 46.96 meters (154-1) and
Alexis Morris is fifth at 42.27 meters (138-8). Three student-athletes are in the top 10 in the hammer led by
Kymoi Noray with the fifth-best throw at 47.80 meters (156-10) while she also leads the conference in the javelin at 43.07 meters (141-4).

The championships begin on Thursday, May 2 with the Decathlon and will end with the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday, May 4. The final day of competition will stream live on the SWAC Digital Network beginning at 5 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay.
