LAFAYETTE, La.| The Jackson State volleyball team opened its season with a win against Murray State Friday morning at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic. The Tigers won 3-1 (25-21, 12-25, 25-23, 25-23).

- Jackson State (1-0) opened the first set with a 3-0 run including two kills from Jordan Jones capped by an ace from Alexis Williams.
- Murray State (0-1) evened the match at four with a kill by Ella Vogel.
- A kill and an ace by Jones gave the Tigers a 23-20 boost to inch away from the Racers.
- JSU sealed set one 25-21 with a kill by Nyjha Marcelin.
- Murray State got on the board first to open the second set with a 2-0 lead.
- The Tigers took a one-point lead 7-6 before the Racers hit the gas.
- Murray State went on a 14-0 run to take a 20-7 lead over JSU
- The Tigers fought for five more points before Murray State closed the door on set two 25-12.
- Jackson State entered a dog fight in the third set, getting on the board first but falling behind 14-11.
- The Tigers battled back to knot the match at 15.
- The Racers began pulling away again with a 20-16 lead.
- JSU climbed back in it and tied the set at 20.
- The Tigers immediately took the lead, eventually pressing on to a 25-23 third-set win.
- Jackson State started the fourth set with a 4-1 lead over Murray State.
- The Tigers never trailed in the fourth set, securing the match 3-1.
