THIBODAUX, La. | Amara Hawkins-Quinones led JSU's effort Saturday morning at the Nicholls XC Invitational on Nicholls State University Farm, recording a personal best time of 20:56.24 in the 5k.
This marks the second time this season that Hawkins-Quinones has beaten her previous personal best, with the first coming in the Tigers' first meet at Mississippi College.
The men competed in the 4-mile coming in 10th place as a team. In their 10th place finish, the Tigers were led by sophomore Andrew Kiplagat, who recorded a time of 21:23.03 to place 25th. Following closely behind him was graduate student Jeremiah Hudson, who recorded a time of 21:33.86, to come in 28th place.

-On the men's 4-mile:
"Pretty good day for the men. We still have some work to do. Top three is ok, we need to work on the back end. Four, five and six have to come through… We're back to practice and with three-to-four weeks left in the season, if we keep working good things will happen.
-On the women's 5k:
"Amara did a good job today. She PR'd. We have a lot of work to do on the women's side. We have two girls we need to get cleared, if we get them cleared we should be good. If not, we have to rock with what we have. We got a meet in, but we still have some work to do."
