HOUSTON, Texas | The Jackson State women's basketball team kept Texas Southern to just 17.6 percent from deep in a 3-for-17 shooting performance, but fell 69-54 to the Tigers on the road Thursday.
JSU had two players score in double figures, led by Taleah Dilworth, who had 22 points. Zoe Cooper tacked on a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Shalance Montoya added eight points and 11 rebounds.
Led by Montoya's seven offensive rebounds, Jackson State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 20 boards that resulted in 14 second chance points.
Jackson State's defense held Texas Southern to only 17.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

- Jackson State (5-10, 3-1 SWAC) struggled out of the gate, falling behind 22-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- JSU continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 41-25 halftime deficit.
- Jackson State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Tigers faced a 63-38 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter.
- JSU's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled five of the team's 13 third-quarter points.
- Jackson State narrowed its deficit to 63-40 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Dilworth's layup, to shrink the deficit to 63-47 with 5:48 to go in the contest.
- JSU kept their comeback going, but Texas Southern managed to hold on for the 69-54 win.
