PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas| The Jackson State women's basketball team got a 26-point performance from the bench on the way to a 67-48 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers on the road Saturday.
The Tigers had three players score in double figures, led by Taleah Dilworth, who had 19 points. Leianya Massenat tacked on 14 points and four steals and Jakiylah Esco chipped in as well with 11 points and six rebounds off of the bench.
Jackson State out-rebounded Prairie View A&M 38-27 in Saturday's game, led by nine boards from Zoe Cooper. The Tigers also grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and scored 21 second chance points.
JSU forced 23 Prairie View A&M turnovers while committing 17 themselves in Saturday's game. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 21 points on the other end of the floor. Massenat's four steals led the way for Jackson State.
How It Happened
- After playing to a 9-9 tie early in the game, Jackson State (6-10, 4-1 SWAC) went on a 6-0 run with 2:54 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Massenat, to take a 15-9 lead.
- The Tigers then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 19-14 advantage.
- Jackson State did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 12 of its 19 points close to the basket.
- JSU kept its first quarter lead intact before going on an 8-0 run starting at the 8:08 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Massenat, to increase its lead to 27-14.
- The Tigers proceeded to tack on five points to that lead and enjoyed a 35-17 advantage heading into halftime.
- Jackson State forced six Prairie View A&M turnovers in the period and turned them into six points.
- Following intermission, Jackson State continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 45-24 before going on an 8-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Shalance Montoya, to expand its lead further to 53-24 with 3:41 to go in the third.
- Before the third period was over, the Tigers added two points to that lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 59-28 edge.
- Jackson State played well near the basket, scoring 12 of its 24 points in the paint.
- The Tigers then held on for the victory in the fourth quarter.
- JSU took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring six of its eight points in the paint.

- Jackson State shot 14-fo-20 (70 percent) from the free throw line and 24-for-57 (42.1 percent) from the field.
- The Tigers finished with 36 points in the paint, 26 bench points, 21 second chance points, 21 points off of 23 Panthers turnovers, and eight fast break points.
- The Tigers never trailed after taking a 19-14 first quarter lead.
- JSU had a 38-27 edge on the boards in the win, collecting 16 offensive rebounds in the game.
- Taleah Dilworth led the Tigers with a game-high 19 points while Zoe Cooper finished with a game-high nine rebounds.
