CHAMPAIGN, Ill. | Devin Ree led a pair of players in double figures as Jackson State dropped its season-opener on the road to No. 17 Illinois 113-55 at the State Farm Center on Monday night.
Ree finished the night with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor including four three-pointers before fouling out. He was joined in double figures by Daeshun Ruffin with 12 points, while Mike Williams finished with nine in his collegiate debut.
Tomislav Ivisic and Ben Humrichous led six players in double figures for Illinois with 21 points each.
Jackson State shot 30.6 (19-of-62) percent from the floor and 24.1 (7-of-29) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 71.4 (10-of-14) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Illinois shot 54.8 (40-of-73) percent from the floor and 45.9 (17-of-37) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 66.7 (16-of-24) percent from the free throw line.

Jackson State shot 29.0 (9-of-31) percent from the floor and 26.7 (4-of-15) percent from beyond the arc in the first half. They also shot 62.5 (5-of-8) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Illinois shot 58.3 (21-of-36) percent from the floor and 52. (10-of-19) percent from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes. They also shot 61.5 (8-of-13) percent from the free throw line and outrebounded Jackson State 31-12 in the first half.
The Tigers shot 32.3 (10-of-31) percent from the floor in the second half and 21.4 (3-of-14) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 83.3 (5-of-6) percent from the free throw line, while Illinois shot 51.4 (19-of-37) percent from the floor and 38.9 (7-of-18) percent from beyond the arc in the second half. They also shot 72.7 (8-of-11) percent from the free throw line.
