BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State claims three Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly awards after an impressive weekend at the Samford Bulldog Open, announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon.
Amara Hawkins-Quinones, who was named Runner of the Week, won the 800-meter race with a time of 2:17.16. This marks the second time Hawkins-Quinones has earned a weekly award this year, with her first coming during the cross-country season.
Junior Dalon Harris was named Field Performer of the Week and placed fifth in weight throw with a heave of 16.18 meters.
Freshman Stephy Venuti earned her Newcomer of the Week honor after recording a personal best in the 800-meter race clocking in at 2:27.78.
