The Jackson State Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 14-2 win over the UAPB Lady Lions on Saturday.
Sofia Gonzalez got the win for Jackson State (8-2). The right-hander went five innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on one hit, allowing no walks and striking out three.
Offensively, the Tigers were led by Ka'Liyah Gipson, who went 3-for-3 on the day with a walk and two RBI. Kristina Carlson put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Freshman Jace Jackson also chipped in for Jackson State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and two RBI.

Jackson State got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Tigers put 12 runs on the board and knock off Tuskegee 12-4 Saturday night.
Brooklyn Morris (3-1) started in the circle and picked up the win for Jackson State going five innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out five.
At the plate, the Tigers were led by Meah Almaraz, who went 3-for-4 on the day with two doubles and two RBI. Gabrielle Willis furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Morris also helped out for Jackson State, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.
