JACKSON, Miss. | Erick Gonzalez went seven innings leading Jackson State to an 11-1 eight-inning victory over Alcorn State at Smith Wills Stadium on Friday night.
Gonzalez (1-0), in his third start of the season, held Alcorn State to just three hits and gave up one run while striking out nine. CJ Lewis came on in the eighth to go 1.0 inning and allowed just one hit.
Jackson State (7-2)Â collected eight hits against four Alcorn State pitchers including a 3-for-4 night from Jordan McCladdie. The SWAC Preseason Player of the Year finished the night 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a pair of RBI. He also recorded a triple and recorded a pair of stolen bases before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Anthony Brown finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

- 5th inning - Wilbert Perez homered to left field, RBI. Torres, H. grounded out to ss, RBI; Anthony Brown scored, Jackson State 9-1.
- 6th inning - Eichelberger flied out to rf, SF, RBI; McCladdie scored. Jackson State 10-1.
- 8th inning - McCladdie, J scored on a wild pitch, Jackson State 11-1.
