JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State completed the weekend sweep of Alcorn State in non-conference action with a pair of run-rule victories at Smith Wills Stadium on Saturday night.
Jackson State (9-2) picked up a 19-6 victory in seven innings on a Nazhir Bergen walk-off grand slam, and captured game two 13-3 in seven innings on a walk-off two-run single by Hederick Torres. Eric Elliott (2-0) picked up the win in game one, working 4.2 innings allowing four runs on eight hits, and Brandon Haston (1-1) picked up the win in game two working 6.2 innings and giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits with six strikouts.
The Tigers pounded out a combined 36 hits in the doubleheader led by Jordan McCladdie who finished the day 5-for-6 from the leadoff position with five runs scored and three stolen bases. Joseph Eichelberger finished a combined 6-for-10 (including 5-for-5 in game one) with six runs scored and five RBI. Arjun Huerta went 5-for-8 with six runs scored and two RBI, and Wilbert Perez picked up four hits in the games.Â
Meanwhile, Ledy Alvarez finished with four hits in the two games while Tyshon Patty was perfect in the nightcap (2-for-2) with three runs scored.
