HONOLULU, O'ahu | The Jackson State softball team got a boost from freshman Ka'Liyah Gipson, who totaled three hits in a 3-1 loss to Howard on Friday.
Sofia Gonzalez (4-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Jackson State. Brooklyn Morris was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit.
In addition to her three hits, Gipson had a triple to lead the Tigers. Gabrielle Willis put together a standout effort as well, going 1-for-3 with a triple. Jace Jackson also chipped in for Jackson State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (10-6) trailed 3-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board.
- JSU got an RBI single from Jackson, scoring Ariah Hill from third base.
- The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

- Gipson led the Tigers, amassing three base hits in the ballgame.
- Jackson State's highest scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed one run across.

GAME 2: JSU, 1 Hawaii, 10
The Jackson State softball team had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Hawaii 10-1 despite the efforts of Jace Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.

In the batter's box, the Tigers were led by Jackson, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (10-7) trailed 7-0 before putting runs on the board in the sixth inning.
- Jace Jackson put JSU on with a one-out solo home run off senior Addison Kostrencich.
- The ballgame ended with that sixth inning rally falling short.
