BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Jackson State had a great showing on Saturday at the Green and Gold Invitational, highlighted by six top-five finishes across both track and field events. The Tigers also recorded seven personal records at the meet.
Dominic Turner secured third place in the 600 meter race with a 1:20.80, which was also a new personal record for him.
Ivan Donaldson Jr. recorded a fifth place finish in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with a 8.22.
In the field events, two senior jumpers shined in the long and triple jump.
Ledamian Rowell continued his impressive performances in Birmingham with a third place finish in long jump with a distance of 7.19 meters.
Javon Gray posted a distance of 14.98 meters in triple jump, which earned him a third place finish.
The throwers also performed well with two top-five finishes in their own right.
Dalon Harris recorded a heave of 15.85 meters in shot put, earning a fourth place finish.
Lillian Dudley also grabbed a fifth place spot in shot put with a distance 14.29 meters.
Several athletes set personal records, including
Andrew Kiplagat and
Jeremiah Hudson, who both recorded personal bests in the mile with times of 4:27.54 and 4:36.39 respectively.
Xhamani Thompson recorded her best time in the 800 meter race, clocking in at 2:31.83. Freshman
Gabrielle Langford earned her best time in the 200 meter dash, winning her heat with a 26.43. Fellow freshman
Elijah Blige earned a new best heave in weight throw with a distance of 13.79 meters.
