PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Jackson State dropped the rubber game of its Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opening series 9-5 to Prairie View A&M on the road on Sunday.

Jackson State (12-6, 1-2 SWAC) pounded out 11 hits in the loss led by five players with a pair of hits each. Jordan McCladdie finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored, while Joseph Eichelberger finished 2-for-4. Wilbert Perez finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI, Pierre Cabral 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Hederick Torres finished 2-for-4.

Brandon Haston (1-3) suffered the loss in the start, working 3.1 innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits. Miles Thomas came on in relief to go 2.0 innings and allowed three runs (all earned) without allowing a hit, and was followed by Nkosi Didder for 1.2 innings allowing one hit on two walks. JeAndrick Lourens came on for the final inning of hitless relief.
