JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State fell behind before battling back midway through Saturday's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game against Bethune-Cookman before falling to the Wildcats 9-5 in the second game of the series.

Bethune Cookman (11-12, 4-1 SWAC) jumped ahead early with three runs in the first inning before Jackson State (14-8, 2-3 SWAC) battled back to take a lead and stay within one run until the sixth inning setting the stage for the series finale at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Jordan McCladdie led a seven-hit attack finishing the game going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI on a lead-off home run. Meanwhile, JeAndrick Lourens (0-1) suffered the loss in the start working 4.1 innings allowing six runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Miles Thomas worked 1.0 inning allowing two runs (both unearned on two hits), and CJ Lewis worked the final 3.2 innings allowing one run on two hits.

Irvin Escobar singled to right field, RBI; Jorge Rodriguez advanced to third; Vanegas scored. Reinaldo Plascencia doubled down the lf line, RBI; Escobar advanced to third; Rodriguez scored, Bethune-Cookman 3-0.
• 1st inning - McCladdie homered to right field, RBI, Bethune-Cookman 3-1.
• 2nd inning - Tyshon Patty reached on a fielder's choice to pitcher, bunt, RBI; Hederick Torres advanced to second; Robert Tate Jr. scored. Bryce Benton singled to shortstop, advanced to second on a fielding error by ss, RBI; Patty scored, unearned; Torres scored, unearned, Jackson State 4-3.
• 3rd inning - Rodriguez singled to left field, RBI; Febo advanced to second; Andrey Martinez scored. Escobar lined out to lf, SF, RBI; Febo scored, Bethune-Cookman 5-4.
• 5th inning - Escobar advanced to second on a wild pitch; Rodriguez advanced to third on a wild pitch; Febo scored on a wild pitch, Bethune-Cookman 6-4.
• 5th inning - Darwin Gregg flied out to cf, SF, RBI; Joseph Eichelberger scored, Bethune-Cookman 6-5.
• 6th inning - Martinez singled through the left side, RBI; Lee scored, unearned. Rodriguez advanced to second on a throwing error by c; Martinez scored, unearned, Bethune-Cookman 8-5.
• 8th inning - Lee advanced to third on a throwing error by p, failed pickoff attempt, scored, Bethune-Cookman 9-5.
