How It Happened
- Jackson State (11-8, 1-0 SWAC) went scoreless in first inning as Bethune-Cookman took an early lead from a homerun over the left field fence with two outs.
- The Tigers responded in the bottom of the second inning as Meah Almaraz doubled to center bringing Mari Stephens home.
- JSU kept its foot on the gas scoring another run in the third off of an RBI double from Jace Jackson.
- Jackson State increased its lead to to 3-1 in the inning off of the bat of Almaraz again.
- The Tigers' defense held strong while its offense was quiet until the sixth inning when Brooklyn Morris' appearance at the plate broke the B-CU defense and Ariana Murrillo scored.
- The 4-1 score held up as JSU secured the game one victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Jackson State finished with eight hits, four runs and no errors in the game.
- Bethune-Cookman had five hits, two errors and one run.
- Brooklyn Morris secured the win for JSU pitching all seven innings after facing 26 B-CUÂ batters and only allowing one run and one error.
- Meah Almaraz, Ka'Liyah Gipson and Jace Jackson each registered two hits in the matchup.
- Almaraz also recorded two RBI's in the win.

The Tigers will close out the three-game series with B-CU in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. First pitch has been pushed up to noon with the second game to follow.
