MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Jackson State dropped the second game of its Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series 4-2 against Alabama State on Saturday night at Wheeler-Watkins Stadium.
Jackson State (16-16, 4-10 SWAC) grabbed an early lead with a run in the second and another in the sixth before Alabama State answered with a pair of runs in the sixth to tie the game. Alabama State (18-18, 11-3 SWAC) took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning witih back-to-back singles ro right field and held on for the win.
The Tigers were held to seven hits with Jordan McCladdie leading the way going 2-for-3 on the night. Joseph Eichelberger finished 1-for-3 with a double for Jackson State. Stevins Spurgeon Jr. (2-2) suffered the loss for the Tigers out of the bullpen working 2.0 innings allowing two runs off three hits in relief of Eric Elliott who worked 6.0 innings in the start. Elliott allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

- 6th inning - Ledy Alvarez flied out to lf, SF, RBI (3-2); Joseph Eichelberger scored, unearned, Jackson State 2-0.
- 6th inning - Alex Espaillat singled through the right side, out at second rf to 1b to ss to 2b, 2 RBI (2-2); Luke Parmentier scored; Kameron Douglas scored, 2-2.
- 8th inning - Mikel Pryor doubled to right field, RBI (2-0); Parmentier scored. Kyler McIntosh singled to right field, RBI (0-1); Pryor scored, Alabama State 4-2.
